PICK OF THE DAY
Fiorentina - Lazio
Tip : GG (both to score)
Odd : 1.60
FT : 3:4 WIN!!!
Fiorentina’s winning streak came to an end on Sunday, as they were held to a 0-0 draw by SPAL at the Artemio Franchi. However, they remain unbeaten in eight, and they are making good progress as they look to make it in to the Europa League next season. They’re inside the top seven, but facing tough competition from Sampdoria and Atalanta. Can they keep ahead of those two sides with a result against Champions League chasing Lazio on Wednesday night?
The visitors crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday night, so the league is their only route in to the Champions League next season. They’re just inside the top four after a weekend draw with third placed Roma, and there’s just a point between third and fifth, with Lazio sandwiched in the middle. They need to up their form in their last six matches of the season if they’re going to finish in the top four, but this trip to the in form Viola is a potential danger for the Aquile.
Lazio’s 0-0 with Roma ended a long running, high scoring run for them of late. Before that they’d kept one clean sheet in eight in all competitions, while they’d seen both teams score in seven of those matches. However, they have a high scoring record on the road this term, which has brought them plenty of entertaining games on the road. They’ve seen over 2.5 goals in 94% of their away trips. They were held to a draw by Inter, although they’ve done that to most of the top teams in Serie A. Aside from that, the Aquile have scored in every trip.
However, the visitors haven’t been that strong defensively, after seeing both teams score in 81% of their away matches this season. They should add to that with Fiorentina scoring in all but three of their home matches, finding the net in seven of their last eight. While they’re in great form coming in to this clash, la Viola are yet to beat or keep a clean sheet at home to a top nine side this season. Five of those six games have seen both teams score, and we’re backing an attacking Lazio side to add to that here.
Ciro Immobile has scored five times in his last five matches, and he’ll be aiming to add to his haul with a strike against Fiorentina this weekend. The striker has racked up 27 goals in 29 Serie A appearances, so we’re backing him to score any time in this visit to the Artemio Franchi on Wednesday.
