Preview Udinese - Napoli

Two offensive-minded teams go head-to-head at Stadio Friuli today. Udinese, the best home team in Serie A, host Napoli, the team with the second-best offense in the league, in what should be an exciting game. Napoli are on a great run. They have won their last 5 league games, including a 6:3 home win over Cagliari last time out. They will surely be affected by their champions league exit after a 4:1 loss against Chelsea, but this match is a direct battle for 4th place, so Napoli must give their best today.
Udinese aren't in very good shape, in fact they've been playing rather bad lately, 5 losses and only 3 wins in the last 10 games. But, today Udinese have a great chance to overtake Napoli in the league standings. They know Napoli played overtime in London on Wednesday, so they must be at least a little more tired than usual and now is the time to hit them hard and get a valuable win. Udinese are doing great at the Friuli - 10 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss in 14 games - you don't get much better than that. I'm sure they'll go for the win here, because the draw simply won't do for them.
All in all it's a pretty close call here, no matter what you choose 1, X or 2, this game can go either way, but IMO we'll see lots of goals in it. Napoli have a great offense, but their defence hasn't been very solid lately. Udinese also have what it takes to score 2 or even more goals tonight. Both teams need a win, probably Napoli won't mind a draw, but surely they won't just sit back and defend all game long. Great odds.

Preview Modena - Noccerina

We will stay in Italy but go a League lower. Modena against Nocerina is a no brainer to me: Nocerina are a team that is not able to keep up on this level, they managed their first win in more than 10 games last weekend when they played at home against other strugglers, Gubbio but that didnt help them to move from the bottom and they are surrely going to relegate at the end of the season. Change of the coach didnt turn their trend and I think they have no chance at Modena.

Modena of course are not great, but they are a capable team. They are in strong form, they managed to win last two home games against Cittadella and Padova, they won against Torino earlier this season and have other strong results. A team capable to win against top teams should have no problems with Nocerina.

This is centenary year for team from Modena, they play such games with extra motivation. No missings that I would need to mention here, Modena to win 3-1 is my call!

Preview Wexford - Longford

I trust Wexford to continue with their great start to the season: 6-0 against Waterford in the first round was followed by 1-1 at Galway and they are now second right behind todays oponents.

This game in the past always yielded goals, 1-3, 2-1, 0-2 and 2-1 are past 4 results. Longford is a kind of team that always plays open football, they are one of the favourites this season and started with two wins, one was over and the other under.

This is going to be a really entertaining match, I see both scoring again and at the end, away win is what I expect, 2-3!

Preview Man City - Sporting

Manchester City haven’t had the greatest of weeks as first of all they lost the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie at Sporting Lisbon and then they lost top spot in the Premier League when they went down at Swansea at the weekend. On Thursday night they will bid to recover their 1-0 deficit in the Europa League before setting about regaining Premier League top spot at the weekend. In the Premier League they have won every match they have played at the Etihad Stadium so a 1-0 lead may well not be enough for Lisbon. City will be without Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta for this match while Carlos Tevez wasn’t registered to play in this competition so he misses out as well.

Sporting Lisbon are another side who could be caught in limbo as to whether to hold on to what they have or push for another goal and leave themselves open. I think they will need a goal if they are to go through but it remains to be seen if they can get it. Sporting couldn’t be arriving in Manchester with much more confidence after they walloped Guimaraes 5-0 in the Portuguese league at the weekend.

I think by hook or by crook we will see goals in this match. If City score early they could go bonkers whereas with Stefan Savic at the back they could well be vulnerable to a speedy counter attack too. Swansea found it easy to get through a defence without Kompany in its ranks at the weekend and so a technically proficient Sporting Lisbon side should fancy their chances too. I’ll go with over 3.5 goals as a bit of value.

Preview Ebbsfleet - Wrexam

There are two teams that are above the level of others in this league and one of them are Wrexham. A team that played League football for 7 decades before relegating to Conference, looks set to win promotion this season, but they would like to do it without shocks, without playoffs. So, they will need to win as many games as possible, especially against poor teams of Ebbsfleet quality. Home or away, it doesnt matter, Wrexham are winning wherever they can.

Wrexham managed to win 11 out of 17 away games, the first match between the two ended as 1-0 win for Wrecsam.. they managed to win 11 out of last 15 overall.

On the other side, Ebbsfleet can be happy with their first season back in Conference, they are in the midtable, 13 points off relegation zone. So, no pressure on them. Gap in their results when they play against top teams and when they play bottom is big: against top teams they lose, recently it was 2-6 at Fleetwood, 0-1 at York, 0-3 against Mansfield, 2-3 against york again and 1-3 earlier this season at Fleetwood. They were not able to win against any of top 5 teams in this league.

I see quality difference here, my call is 2-0 away win!

Preview Schalke - Hamburg

Interesting match when you think in last 7 games in Gelsenkirchen Hamburg won 4 and drew 3 times, last home win of Schalke beeing back in 2005. Both teams are in crises and missing a lot of players. Schalke lost last 2 rounds, 0:2 in Munchen against Bayern and 1:2 in Freiburg against last place,d and also 0:1 on Thursday in Holland against Twente in the Europe League. They can't think anymore about the title and have to fight for this 4th place they are sitting on for the Champions League qualies. Defenders Papadopoulos (red card) and Howedes (injured) are out, while they still have to use the third goalkeeper Hildebrand, but Metzelder and Fuchs are back. Also back for attack are midfielder Farfan and striker Huntelaar to replace the inefficient Marica.  Probable line-up: Hildebrand – Hoger, Metzelder, Matip, Fuchs – J.Jones, Holtby, Farfan, Raul, Draxler – Huntelaar.  After the winterbreak Hamburg made some good results, brought all points from Berlin and Koln and drew with Bayern. But with a single point in last 3 games they slept again not far from the relegation area, on 13th. For this match they'll miss their best striker Guerrero (red card), midfielder Jaromlin (suspended) and wing Aogo (injured).  Probable line-up: Drobny – Diekmeier, Mancienne, Westermann, Jansen – Rincon, Kačar – Sala, Iličević – Arslan , Petrić Schalke is motivated to keep the CL place, their negative results were away and have richer rooster, they have to win this one at home and I think they'll do.
