Nimes - Lens

After
some good previous seasons (starting especially with that 8 points deduction by
FF for arranged games) Nimes exploded in 2017 being the most spectacular team of
Ligue 2. They scored 40 goals in 18 games ( having one game in hand vs GFC
Ajaccio who probable will be played on 23th January due the both teams were
knocked out from French Cup in previous weekend) and finished on 2nd spot with
37 points – 7 less than the leader. An incredible offensive compartment with new
star Bozok ( top striker of the Ligue with 14 goals) along Alioui, Thioub,
Ripart 9 who had some problems being injured) Vlachodimos and young Del
Castillo. Is a pleasure to watch this team Bernard Blaquart transformed in a
positive way since he took the charge. So I will keep my eyes on them. Boscagli
is suspended.
Lens
had a terrible start of the season losing first 7 games in a row. The team
really didn’t play so bad as the results suggest but no luck at all. Also some
problems with injuries and other extra-football contributed massive to these
results. Of course the coach Casanova was sacked, being appointed former Lens
legend Sikora who had a difficult mission. But he slowly put Lens again on track
collecting 19 points in last 12 games, being 4th in table keeping in mind last
10 games. Currently they are sitting on 15th spot having only 4 points more than
play-out spot ( but, no doubt, they are not relegation material so will leave
soon the red zone). Lens is a strong team with plenty of quality players and
expect from them much better performance even compared with those last 10 games.
Nothing yet on transfer list even are many discussions with some players who
want to leave Lens. They will be without Bellegarde (maybe their best player in
first part of the season) and Chantome both injured
Traditionally
in last years, Nimes played very well in January. Keeping in mind powerful force
in attack and missing of one of the best Lens player I expect Nimes to take
another clear win. Back them to win 2:0, GL!
