PICK OF THE DAY
Hannover - Leverkusen
Tip : GG (both to score)
Odd : 1.65
FT : 4:4 WIN!!!
Sunday’s earlier Bundesliga kick off sees Leverkusen travel to Hannover. An open game is expected with plenty of chances at both ends.
Hosts Hannover had made a good start to the season as they look to avoid an immediate return to the second tier, but some tricky fixtures over the last few weeks have made life difficult for Andre Breitenreiter’s side. Die Roten went unbeaten in their opening 5 fixtures but have since lost 7 of the last 11, including defeats away at big hitters such as Bayern, Leipzig and Gladbach.
Whilst they face a titan once again in the form of Leverkusen, confidence can at least be taken in the fact that, this time around, the game well be held at the HDI-Arena. Hannover lost just once on home soil on their route to promotion last term and have maintained their fortress this time around, losing just once from their opening 7 home fixtures, picking up impressive three points against Schalke, Hamburg, Dortmund and Hoffenheim along the way.
Meanwhile, visitors Leverkusen have no reason to fear this tricky away day, as they arrive in peak condition off the back of an 11 match unbeaten run in the league. Heiko Herrlich’s made an underwhelming start to the campaign as they looked to get over last season’s poor 12th placed finish but have since surged up the table to their current 4th placed standing.
There’s no doubting where the strength of this Leverkusen side is to be found, and that’s in attacking lines. Die Werkself are yet to fire a blank this term and have rattled home an average of 1.87 goals a game in league action, making them the division’s third most potent outfit. Having also conceded an average of 1.18 a game, there is still plenty to be done at the other end if the side are to become real contenders, but work has certainly started on that front with two clean sheets posted in the last two games.
Nonetheless, it’s hard to envisage another one coming here in what should be an end to end affair that’s easy on the eye. Whilst Hannover arrive in indifferent form, they are definitely a better side than results would suggest, particularly on home soil where they will certainly give the high flying visitors a run for their money.
Backing both nets to be hit looks a must play. 3 of Hannover’s last 4 games have seen goals at both ends, with an average of 3.25 goals a game on show, whilst 6 of Leverkusen’s 8 away games have also seen both nets hit, with an average of 3 goals a game rattled home in the process.
As for the result itself, we do have to give Leverkusen the edge. They are in sparkling form and have won the last 4 games between the two. Attacker Kevin Volland is on a real hot streak for the visitors, scoring 4 times in his last 6 appearances and we fancy him to notch in a 2-1 win.
INFORMATION
Celta - Villareal
Although odd for both to score is to low, 1.60, I think we can see low scoring game here, as both teams will miss key strikers, Celta will be without top scorer Iago Aspas , and Villareal also without topscorer Cedric Bakambu and another striker Dani Raba, all of these players are susspended.
Like I thought, 0:1 at the end
