PICK OF THE DAY
Betis - Atl Madrid
Tip : 2
Odd : 1.75
FT : 0:1 WIN!!!
Betis made an encouraging start to life under Quique Setien and they
are still reasonably placed in 11th. However performances in recent
weeks have been so poor that he’s already under some pressure and with
Atleti playing as well as they have done all season in recent weeks,
this should go the way of the visitors.
The side from Seville are
without a win in 6 matches heading into this and when you really analyse
some of their results, the picture becomes all the more concerning for
Betis. They conceded five times in two of those games, not against
Barcelona or Real Madrid but struggling Eibar and Segunda Division
Cadiz, who sent Betis packing from the Copa del Rey. It was the second
time they’d conceded five or more at home this term with Valencia having
already won 6-3 at the Benito Villamarin in La Liga. They’ve let
in 2 goals per game on average this season in La Liga and only Las
Palmas have let in more. Worryingly though things haven’t even looked so
good at the other end of late with Betis failing to break down a
dreadful Las Palmas defence in their most recent match.
Therefore
this feels like a very good time for Atleti to be heading south to
Seville. Diego Simeone’s men remain unbeaten in La Liga this term and if
they avoid defeat here they will have gone 19 games, the equivalent of a
whole season away from home without defeat. If it wasn’t for their
bitterly disappointing Champions League exit, we’d be talking about
Atleti being in line for another very strong campaign.
They’ve
been scoring more goals of late too with Antoine Griezmann finally
finding some form, although the Frenchman is an injury doubt here.
Atleti have been perhaps a bit more direct, playing with two forwards
and we should see that continue here against a poor opposing defence.
It’s likely to be the way they go when Diego Costa becomes available too
and that will be a key moment in Atleti’s season.
Atleti had
scored 10 goals in a 4 match winning streak in all competitions prior to
a 1-1 draw at Chelsea in midweek. They’ve also already hit five on two
occasions away from home in La Liga this term and they certainly look in
better shape than Betis right now, which makes backing an Away Win look
the smart bet here.
