Punters up and down the country will be licking their lips at the return of the FA Cup this weekend as the second round gets underway and this Sunday pits League Two promotion hopefuls Coventry City against National League high flyers Boreham Wood. Even though the visitors upset the odds in the last round, we think that their journey will come to an end this time around and we are backing a home win.
The strength of the Sky Blues has been their defensive stability this term so that is their main weapon . The defensive record of Coventry is something which is extremely impressive and it is quite hard to overstate just what impact it has made on the rest of League Two. City have conceded just 12 times in their 20 league matches and with just four goals conceded on home soil, fans at the Ricoh Arena know that their team usually comes out on top in front of their own fans.
To put that home record in some context for you, they have managed to win to nil in half of their league matches there so far this term, so the prospect of a side from a lower division coming in and putting them to the sword looks to be remote.
There is a few notes of caution though as Boreham Wood have been one of the most impressive outfits in the National League so far this term. They go into this match undefeated in their last 10 outings but if there is a chink in their armour then it is found in their record away from home. Wood have managed just four wins from 11 matches on the road and have dropped points at some of the National League’s lesser lights.
