PICK OF THE DAY
Leipzig - Bayern Munchen
Tip : GG&3+ (both to score and over 2.5)
Odd : 1.75
FT : 1:1 Lost
After
Carlo Ancelotti’s dismissal, Jupp Heynckes has stepped up to take over the
reigns for the 4th time at Bayern Munich – and what an impact he has made!
Heynckes won the treble with Bayern in 2013 (Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and
Champions League), and he seems to have brought that winning form straight back
out of them – the Bavarians have scored nine goals and conceded none over three
fixtures against Freiburg and Hamburg in the Bundesliga (in 5-0 and 1-0 wins)
and at home to Celtic in the Champions League (3-0 win).
For
hosts RB Leipzig, a slower than expected start has been turned around
after briskly adjusting to the added strain of their first ever participation in
European competition. Leipzig head into this with 5 wins from their last 6 (W5
L1), over which they’ve beaten the likes of Borussia Dortmund (3-2 away win) and
FC Porto (3-2 home win) – matches that reflect the nature of one of the most
talented attacking sides in the league.
From
a betting perspective, backing goals at both ends has to be worth consideration.
Reigning champions Bayern Munich need no introduction – the attacking trio of
Robben, James and Coman are expected to provide support for star-striker Robert
Lewandowski, who’s 18 goals in 18 appearances for club and country this season
make him the “go to” anytime scorer bet. On the other side of the pitch, RB
Leipzig’s Timo Werner leads perhaps one of the most talented youthful,
attack-minded teams in the world at present.
The
Red Bulls marked their ground in the Bundesliga last season with a 2nd placed
finish that even put dominant champions Bayern Munich through their paces. The
last meeting between the two ended 4-5 to Bayern Munich, and player-wise not a
whole lot has changed since. So while we wholly expect the Red Bulls to give the
reigning champions a good fight, we’re not convinced they’ll have what it takes
to beat Bayern at their best. Our prediction: a 3-2 Bayern Munich win.
