Atalanta found goals when Crotone visited on Wednesday night, with La Dea running out 5-1 winners in that game. They were really impressive, enough to banish any kind of talk of a European hangover for them this term. That being said, they were at home to a struggling Crotone team. Can they replicate that form at Fiorentina? La Viola aren’t in the best of ways either right now, but they do have a long unbeaten run at home to the side from Bergamo.
Fiorentina’s meek loss to Juventus was a set back to their recent progression, after la Viola won back to back games. They were shocked at home to Sampdoria earlier this season, but their win over Bologna here last time out sets up Fiorentina for a good run of form at home. That’s likely to continue against an Atalanta side who were awful away to the top clubs, but then again la Viola weren’t all that strong at home last term.
Fiorentina started the campaign with a mean defence and few goals, but things are very different now. Their big summer signing was Genoa’s Giovanni Simeone, which has bolstered their forward line. However, there’s an obvious gap in defence, and that hasn’t gone unnoticed. Sampdoria caught them out already, as did Inter Milan. We expect Atalanta to find the back of the net here after their five goal haul in midweek.
However, Fiorentina have 15 goals in their last six games against Atalanta, so the hosts should be able to grab a goal too. We like the look of both teams to score here, my call is 2:2, GL!
