Liverpool will go into this match full of confidence after their 6-0 win over Newcastle last week. They will once again be without Luis Suarez who is suspended for the remainder of the season but they didn’t miss him last week and will hope they don’t miss him here. Fabio Borini made his comeback from the bench last week and he is expected to start on the bench again for this match. Jamie Carragher makes his final appearance in a Merseyside derby.
Everton will be without Phil Neville for what is a must win game if they are to secure Champions League football. Defeat here will pretty much end any chance of European football at all so this is a big game for Everton. They will hope that Darron Gibson is fit in the middle of the park. Victor Anichebe could be a big player for Everton in this match as he never gives the defence any peace.
I expect an open game here. There’s no point in Everton turning up and looking to play on the counter attack because they have to win the game. I think we’ll see the likes of Mirallas start and Pienaar will get involved too but obviously with that comes the risk of conceding with Liverpool having plenty of skill and creativity up top too. I think we’ll see a few goals here so it is over 2.5 goals for me.
