Milwall - Wigan
Tip : 2
Odd : 1.85
FT : ??
Millwall go into the match without a win in three matches but that is probably understandable given how huge this occasion is. We shouldn’t write them off completely because they did make the FA Cup final as a Championship club in 2004. Millwall have a doubt over their midfielder Liam Trotter but James Henry could make an early return from injury having initially been ruled out for the rest of the season. Martyn Woolford and Jermaine Easter are cup-tied.
Wigan Athletic are in good form going into this match but that is to be expected. We are now in the part of the season where they hit their strides and the Latics have just one defeat in their last six matches. Roberto Martinez has a fully fit squad to choose from with Calum McManaman likely to start despite the recent controversy surrounding him. Wigan’s passing game should enjoy this big pitch.
Millwall have done well to get this far but they have had a nice run through to this stage it must be said. If this match was a battle of tickets sold then Millwall would be landslide winners but it isn’t and I think Wigan will enjoy the conditions and the big pitch and I would expect them to pass Millwall into submission. Wigan are a much better side than their league position suggests but now that they’ve finally found their form again they will be hard to beat here.
Braga - Porto
Tip : GG (both to score)
Odd : 1.90 (Wiliam Hill)
FT : ??
These two teams face each other twice in less than one week, and for the third time this season. Two wins for Porto and one for Braga. The game will be played on a neutral Stadium.
Braga is aiming for a trophy on the last few years, since they assumed themselves as the 3rd biggest team in Portugal while Porto who never paid much attention to this Cup they are going for it this as long as they´re out of the Portuguese Cup and European Competitions.
It will be a well disputed game, Porto will make the usual changes, Fabiano GK will play on Helton´s place Maicon CB is injured, so Mangala CB will return to his place. The place of Defour is the only doubt I have, because Porto need a wing and Vitor Pereira should field Atsu or even the rising star Kelvin to have more crosses to the striker Jackson.
On Braga side, they have many solutions on the attack, I believe they can relegate João Pedro to the bench and use Carlão, or even give a chance to Ruben Micael on the lineup. They´ve been training with doors closed to this game, so is hard to predict their lineup. Peseiro needs this trophy to achieve a stress relief from the pressure he has to get the 3rd place on the championship, so, is expected to see him try something new on this game. Players like Ruben Micael , Ruben Amorim and Salino, Douglao and Vinicius that are coming from injury and their form is unknown, are looking for a space on this game.
Last round of this Cup, Braga sent home Benfica on penaltis after a draw 0-0 and Porto won at home 4-0 to Rio Ave.
Open games and goals on both side, 2:2 is my call!
