QPR - Tottenham
Tip : 2
Odd : 1.85
FT : ??
QPR were due to host Tottenham in the Monday Night Football but because
of their FA Cup replay next week it has been brought forward to open
the Premier League weekend on Saturday lunchtime. The two sides meet at
Loftus Road in very different positions. QPR go into the match bottom of
the table while Spurs are chasing a Champions League spot.
QPR know they must pick up points and do it soon else they will be
completely cut adrift from the safety zone. Harry Redknapp will love
nothing more than to get a win in this match against the side who
mysteriously sacked him in the summer. Esteban Granero faces a fitness
test ahead of this match while Junior Hoilett is a doubt with a
hamstring injury. Redknapp has brought in Tal Ben Haim and he could
debut here.
Tottenham will be pleased that the game has been brought forward as it
means they have Emmanuel Adebayor available one last time before he
heads off to the African Cup of Nations which begins next week. That
means William Gallas is Spurs’ only major absentee for this match as he
has a calf injury. Gareth Bale’s stock keeps rising and I’m sure all
eyes will be on him in this match with the transfer window now open.
QPR beat Chelsea last time out in the Premier League in the result of
the season so far but backing that up here won’t be easy against a Spurs
side who’ve only lost one of their last eleven matches. Historically
Spurs don’t have the greatest of records at Loftus Road but they have a
much better team than QPR this year and I find it hard to believe that
they visitors won’t win this. I’d expect a lot more from QPR than we saw
in their last home league game against Liverpool but I don’t see a
different result.
