Ghana - Mali
Tip : GG (both to score)
Odd : 2.10
Bookmaker : William Hill
Mali took the top spot in Group B of the African Cup of Nations after the opening round of matches when they beat Niger but they face a tough task to stay in top spot of the group as they take on well fancied Ghana in their second match of the competition on Thursday afternoon.
Ghana let a 2-0 lead slip in their opening match against DR Congo and will be looking for all three points here. Ghana go into this match as favourites but they must be a little cautious going into the game after what happened in the match with DR Congo. The Black Stars coach has said he’ll make changes so clearly he wasn’t impressed with his side’s inability to hold on to their two goal lead and among those unlikely to play in this match are Richmond Boakye and Anthony Annan who are both doubtful through injury.
I thought Mali were laboured in their opening match against Niger but I think a lot of that was down to the fact they knew that they were far superior to their opponents and preserved a bit of energy for later in the competition. One player who stood out a long way for Mali was their captain Seydou Keita and they will need him to go well in this match if they are to win. This is probably the match of the whole group phase and I think it will be one which contains a lot of quality.
Ghana looked good going forward against DR Congo but looked loose at the back and I think Mali have the personnel to take advantage of that but once Niger went for broke against Mali you sensed there was a weakness in the Mali defence which Ghana can exploit so the odds against on both teams scoring looks good to me here. Back Both teams to score for at 2.10 with William Hill
