PICK OF THE DAY
Nantes - Strasbourg
Tip : 1&GG (home win and both to score)
Odd : 4.00
FT : 1:0 Lost
After seven consecutive matches without a victory in Ligue 1 and two straight defeats without a goal scored, players of Nantes managed to improve and fight out a 2:0 victory away from home against Angers last Saturday afternoon. First halftime wasn't that interesting, while the guests secured the three pointer thanks to their great start into the second halftime.
Lima brought them into the lead in 50th minute and Coulibaly sealed the victory in 62nd minute, as the home side also tried to react and had some decent chances, but it was easy for Nantes to play from then on as the hosts looked more nervious. Overall, guests showed more during the match and no doubt that they deserved points mostly thanks to more of the ball possession but also more concrete chances created.
Nantes now stands at tenth position and even though they don't have much of competitive motive, no doubt that the team wants to finish the season with a positive performance here.
Coulibaly and Sala will lead their attack in a version of 4-3-1-2 formation together with Rongier as offensive midfielder. Midfielder Joris Kayembe (3/0) is injured for this one. Doubtful are central back Diego Carlos (27/1), defensive midfielder Andrei Girotto (24/1) and forward Prejuce Nakoulma (18/3).
Strasbourg, on the other side, also managed to improve last weekend when the team surprisingly won over Lyon at home with a 3:2 result. It was their first three pointer after eleven consecutive matches without a single victory.
Players of Lyon had much more of the ball possession during both parts of the game, but the hosts took the lead against the flow of the match via Bahoken in 22nd minute. Visitors improved in the second part of the match and reverted the scoreline thanks to goals from Fekir and Aouar, while the very ending of the clash belonged to the home team.
They risked a lot having little to lose as Da Costa and Lienard reverted the scoreline for a 3:2 result in last minutes of the clash. The result could have been different on some other day, but must be said that neither Lyon looked that concrete during the clash as the hosts got awarded for their determination.
Thanks to this victory they managed to seal salvation before the last round of the season as the side stands at sixteenth posiiton with four points more than play-out placed Toulouse and can play fully relaxed in this one.
Guests are set to play in 4-3-1-2 formation with Costa and Bahoken as forwards, plus Corgnet as offensive midfielder behind them. Forward Martin Terrier (24/3) and defensive midfielder Jean Eudes Aholou (35/5) are injured for this clash. Defenders Abdallah Ndour (4/0), Ismael Aaneba (1/0) and midfielder Vincent Nogueira (3/0) are all doubtful coming from injuries.
- Nantes won seven out of last eight competitive matches agaisnt Strasbourg at home, they also won 5 from last 6 and from those 5 wins 4 of them were with both to score in combination.
Nantes have shown so much more during the season and now with the last round being in front of us, I definitely see them as a strong favorite against Strasbourg. They already won against the opponents earlier in season and now with Strasbourg putting their competetitive motives behind them, hosts should prevail easy or difficult.
